Link required? ...

Postby Ruseri » Thu Jul 31, 2003 2:10 pm

ok, this'll sound silly, but when you're creating a new vid to upload, and it asks for a "link" ...what does it mean? ...is the link required and what is it supposed to link to? ...also, i've uploaded my video just now (and confirmed it and everything), but when i do a search for it on the site, i can't find it (no matter how specific the search is). please help if you can.

The link is in there in the case that your AMV is hosted outside animemusicvideos.org. If this is the case, you are allowed to supply a link to your video:

Direct Link means that the link should directly point to the video itself

Indirect Link means that the link will bring you to some web page where you can find the actual link to download the video.

If you are going to put the video on the local server you don't have to specify any link (unless there is another copy hosted somewhere else as well) since the link we'll be automatically created when you upload and confirm your video.

Hope this helps.

And if your vid is on a local link and you can't find it in the search engine, it could be because you're not a donating member. There's a little bonus for donating members that has to do with finding local links via the search engine - but I can't remember exactly what the deal is. :?

As long as the link reads available (green 'local' not the red 'no' ) on your profile page, then the vid is there, even if you can't get it on the search engine.
