Over spring break I got to thinking that something like this might be really cool, if anyone would be willing to code it.
Basically, you would have a program that could connect to the a-m-v.org database, and allow you to search for videos just like you do on the website. This program would act as a sort of download manager (more specifically, something designed to download from the golden donut). You could queue up videos to download, 1 at a time, with resume ability and all. Now heres where it starts to get cool. The program could also double as a P2P program, specifically for a-m-v.org. Each amv that you download through the program gets added into your database of available amvs that you can share with others. The amvs that you download through the program would all be indexed so that the program knows all the information about that video, such as the creator, song, anime used, etc. The amvs would all have links to that videos video info page, and the creators profile. It could also give you reminders to leave opionions for videos that you have downloaded. I was thinking the P2P aspect of it could work sort of like bittorret. People would download from the goldendonut as the main server, but if there are people sharing that same video, that could upload as well to help the load on the donuts server.
What do you think?
