When somebody enters a source into our Avatar database, a moderator or administrator has to "confirm" that the source is Avatar according to the .org's definition.
If you enter video information, and only list non-anime or unconfirmed Avatar, then you are not able to upload the video to LOCAL (and I think it might disqualify you from the VCAs too, not sure about that though)?
This system is used to:
- Make sure that video sources follow a naming standard, to make things easier to find
- Cut down on the number of duplicate video source entries in the database. (This is a big issue in our music database.)
The list of video sources that need to be confirmed can get quite large, and the moderator or administrator must research each entry before making a decision. Given only a title, and no good way to communicate with the person who entered it into the database, it takes a non-trivial amount of time to do the research.
Posting a thread asking for a series to be confirmed gets the series confirmed faster because
- It establishes a much more reliable line of communication in case something is wrong with the title
- Video sources posted in such threads are nearly all Avatar, making research easier.
