I know the site has a option to search by format (MPEG1, WMV, etc...). Ever consider a search by aspect ratio or search by vertical resolution?
In the case of aspect ratio, the more known ones would include
- 1:1, 23:20, 5:4, 4:3, 11:8, 36:25, 3:2, 14:9, 5:3, 16:9, 37:20, 2:1, 11:5, 12:5
And yes, while some are more obscure than others, I have seen stuff in virtually all of these formats. You could set it so someone searching for this could be looking for 'all at or below' or 'all at or above' the selected ratio... you might want to put the rounded decimal amount next to each aspect ratio "4:3 (1.333)".
In the case of vertical resolution, a good range that includes PAL and NTSC would include:
- 80p, 90p, 108p, 120p, 144p,
- 160p, 180p, 216p, 240p, 288p,
- 320p, 360p, 432p, 480p, 576p,
- 640p, 720p, 768p, 960p, 1080p,
- 1152p
Like aspect ratios, I've seen stuff in virtually all these formats.

1.440 36:25 IMAX
1.500 3:2 DVD, VCD, CIF, HVGA, 35mm Still, and VistaVision standard. Technically, DVD/VCD all should go to 4:3/16:9, but videos use this aspect ratio.
