Track Listings for Meps?

Postby gotegenks » Sat Jul 24, 2010 12:12 am

just an idea, but when you submit a mep, maybe have a section on the info that has the parts each editor did and what sources/audio (if there's different audio)

idk, i think it'd be cool, i do this with meps in the info anyway, but i think it'd be neat to have it be a part of the technical info instead of having just a big clump of names, animes, and audio sources.

So basically a way to organize all that.

a REALLY cool idea (though nobody would bother with it) would be to have downloads for each track separately,

but yeah, idk how difficult or possible it is, but i just thought i'd throw it out there.

Would there be a toggle to determine whether it's an MEP or not?

In either case, I think this would only be useful on certain kinds of videos, considering how many different ways a song or songs can be divided, if they're actually divided at all.

I hadn't thought of that, but yeah i guess there'd have to be, and why not? seems simple enough, toggle it as a mep and then that'll let you find and select who collaborated on it, and then once you add the names there will be text boxes like (anime),(music), (timestamp)

maybe when you add a member you have to choose the number that they appeared at, so if two members did one track, it'll just combine the two.

I've never seen an MEP that didn't already credit each segment at the end, and very few that didn't add it to their video info, so I don't get how this is something we need.

The information would be where the username already is? That would become incredibly crowded.

It would be in rows most likely, with the username of the uploader or coordinator or whatever at the very top, i don't think it'd be that crowded unless it was just a triple-huge clump of name, anime, song, name, anime, song, etc.

I wouldn't fill it out for a mep because I'm too lazy and I already put who did what in the end credits O.o

that's frustrating in many situations and it'd be a little better to know which track is whose beforehand. If you see it in the end credits, then if you're interested, you'll go look through the tracks and count until you reach the track, and then you watch it again because now you know it's someone you know, and the whole process is just annoying, if you read it in the desc then you know beforehand and you can be keeping an eye out for a particular track. Let's face it, there are hardly any meps where we really wanna see every single track, anyway. Besides, who stays around for the end credits?

if everyone put it in the video info anyway, then i wouldn't have even brought it up, but i barely see that happening.

Well, people probably don't do it right because of that - it's unfair to the creators when the viewer is biased and skips tracks.

Btw, when I watch MEP I DO watch it completely and I DO watch credits.

I like this idea, but it would have to include timestamps... a lot of meps do good jobs at track transitions and it can be hard to tell when each new segment comes in, and you may lose track of who edited which part if you are trying to find out...

Case in point, took me quite a while to find out Rozard edited the BECK track in RoS3

Exactly a mep is meant to be watched as a whole piece not to be skipped around in..

Besides, if you can skip around the file to watch the segments you want, then you can skip to the end to check the credits.

You didn't see that the anime was playing while his name was on the screen during the credits?
