tollerant?
Yes you are right in most cases the community is, very in fact.
but I have to ask, do you think that shenlongthetigers problem was that he was stupid?
op thread
or perhaps his english skills were a barrier that dropped him in the hot pot? There are 2 examples in the one thread of this problem occuring and my point is that should have been considered.
I didn't see any appologies after people realised he was French?
I didn't see anyone try and fix the problem or explain.
He just got ignored.
What do you think the correct course of action is?
How many flame fests have started because of this factor?
just some mussings I suppose and I guess that some of us take english for granted some times, it's easy to forget. I'm as guilty as the next person.
BasharOfTheAges- yes l33t is worse when english is bad to begin with, 100% with you on that
wurpess - hehehe it does cast a shadow of doubt on the whole thing... I'm gonna fence sit with Dax now
btw I'm not defending her actions what so ever, I just think that there are 2 sides to this story and pissed off people usually can only see their own.

You know, I look through that thread now and I feel only one thing: deep, deep regret that godix's opinion priveleges were removed. If he could have mine (which I stopped using ways ago), I'd so totally trade.

I started crying from laughter when I read this thread.
Fact: Godix did bad.
Fact: Godix got slapped on the wrist.
So... yeah... now there's this massive circular 'discussion' about how awful this is to poor-wittle Godix and how if he was going to be punished it should have been for past wrongs, not recent wrongs.
This is what I call 'karma'.
Keep dancing the line, and eventually you slip one too many times for the admin to ignore.
This time, someone stood up for themselves. Sure I don't have much love for BP, but I don't think it matters WHO stood up for themself against the almighty Godix- the fact that someone finally DID is what gets to most of his fans.
Having read the tiff this was over, I think Godix wasn't the only person that should have been slapped on the wrist for certain comments.
Godix's particular brand of humor hurts people. Regardless of whether the joke is funny or not, from what I've seen, it's at someone else's expense.
I'm not one of the old-timers or the 'in-crowd' so I don't expect those of you who 'are' to actually understand what I see when people who act like Godix on this site... act like, well, Godix. -_-;

Lmao. When I read that I was like 'are they being semantic?' then I realised you were joking. ^^; Almost had me opening my mouth to insert foot there. Lol. I think that one's going in a quote archive. *chuckle*Kitsuner wrote:What do you mean by 'are'?sweetdeily wrote:I'm not one of the old-timers or the 'in-crowd' so I don't expect those of you who 'are' to actually understand what I see when people who act like Godix on this site... act like, well, Godix. -_-;

Well, who was the first one to raise a fuss over this? I laugh at the thought that I'm part of some editor inner circle. The only editor friends I have hardly ever post here.
As has been stated before in this very thread, It's not really about godix, it's about how things were handled, how things weren't handled, and how hypocrites that don't know forum etiquette were allowed to barge into this forum and set a perceived precedent of whining until someone got banned, and how some people thought that wasn't okay. I will defend what he did in this case because I do not believe people have the right to be lazy enough to not read that first post and yet still complain at the clearly stated result. Prior transgressions that were objectionable are also not fair to mention because they were incorrectly handled to begin with. You don't "make up for it" by over-reacting later on. What's done is done.

Hmm, as far as I'm concerned the banners and this very discussion thread speak for themselves about who is making a fuss.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Well, who was the first one to raise a fuss over this? It's not so much who the first person was to make a fuss, most of the posters in this forum /are/ making a fuss- /I'm/ making a fuss.
The thing is: "do you honestly think /now/, /this/ issue, is what you should be semanticating over?"
I repeatBasharOfTheAges wrote:As has been stated before in this very thread, It's not really about godix, it's about how things were handled, how things weren't handled, and how hypocrites that don't know forum etiquette were allowed to barge into this forum and set a perceived precedent of whining until someone got banned, and how some people thought that wasn't okay.
I completely support dokidoki's decision to ban godix because he was technqicually (sp) caught out regardless of the history of BP.swetdeily wrote:I think Godix wasn't the only person that should have been slapped on the wrist for certain comments.
I find it interesting how you see someone being attacked on a personal level as a hypocritical whinner.
Yes, that's perfectly true.I will defend what he did in this case because I do not believe people have the right to be lazy enough to not read that first post and yet still complain at the clearly stated result.
I will also defend Godix's right to do that.
But BP was right as well (and as much as it pains me to say it) I will defend BP on the grounds that the forum rules were breached unfairly and BP deserved to have its hissy fit in this one particular instance. Just because BP is a hypocrite and I find it mostly deplorable in almost all of what it does and says (I don't condone yelling and screaming at people trying to help you) doesn't mean they weren't right to turn around and stand up to Godix.
And there I go, repeating myself again... sorry. ^^;
I think the only reason the comment thread wasn't locked from the get-go was that the mods didn't initially realize what Godix set himself up for. Any one of the people who didn't read the post fully could have turned around and done the exact same thing, and they would still have been right.
Yes, I agree, Godix and others should have been punished a long time ago as well. Good point. ^^Prior transgressions that were objectionable are also not fair to mention because they were incorrectly handled to begin with. You don't "make up for it" by over-reacting later on. What's done is done.
I don't think this was an overreaction at all. He abused another member on a personal level (whether he realized or not). As far as I know, the mods might have given him warnings in the past about such actions (and frankly wouldn't surprise me if they had,) and this was his third time strike out.
Godix's comments were not 'that' inflamatory, but they were still inflamatory, and that, Bash-san is the point.
From my noobie point of view: I would have been really upset that someone could go around saying whatever they wanted to others and get away with it because the mods thought 'oh well, he's been doing it so long we can't punish him now, there'd be no point'.
I think it is perfectly fair to talk about past transgressions, but you're entittled to your opinion in thinking it's unfair of me; I won't stop you from having an opinion.
I think one of the reasons Godix himself hasn't replied/emailed about this (as I'm sure people would be quoting him if he had) is because he knows he was caught out on this one.
In terms of feedback for the mods, power to you guys! I just wish you caught more people when you did it.

Uhhh, he has. Check the previous posts. I believe he's been quoted twice to some length.sweetdeily wrote: I think one of the reasons Godix himself hasn't replied/emailed about this (as I'm sure people would be quoting him if he had) is because he knows he was caught out on this one.
