Re: Bacon 3-month ban for an insult?
This is a small community were fairly everyone knows everyone, at least by nick. Getting banned for 3 months is getting banned for 1/4 of the year, and I believe that is a pretty big amount of time, even more if he was banned last time by even 1 only-day. If it was because they thought he wouldn't learn, it should be rather a permaban, but c'mon, we for sure don't know everything behind this and couldn't judge as well as the mod, I guess.
What I meant by the fact of being a small community, is that practically no person here will flame other on the forums for real, and if they do, won't keep unbanned enough to tell. Unless they get REALLY carried off, and/or the "victim" does get offended, it doesn't look like a big deal.

(I didn't ban him as I wasn't even online the whole day).
Look, guys, nearly 80% of all posts deleted over the last few days have been by him or in response to him. He had just come off a short-term ban last week for the same thing. He was prodded and warned several times.
I'm sorry, but with the VCA running, the administration has better things to do than to babysit him. 3 months is a bit harsh, but I don't see even the slightest sign of remorse here, just complaints. Unless he realizes that it's wrong to spam, flame and bait on our forums, then it's unfair for us to have to constantly clean up after him. This is no way to behave and this is no way in which we want our forums to be used, let alone represented.

What you said Could go if he actually insulted someone. But that's a usual occasion of a fucking inside joke, he sweared at someone he knew wouldn't mind, is that "flaming"? I though flaming is meant to be offensive, and not just to keep the forums "looking clean". Because if it is, I can point out LOTS of occasions where people insulted each other with nothing happening, because it was obvious it wasn't really flaming, more of an inside joke sort of thing. And these didn't get deleted nor did users get banned, because they were more "well known" and the mods probably recognised it wasn't something serious.
So with Aaron here being able to confirm himself that this is one of those occasions, don't you think that no matter what else Bacon might have done, This is a completely wrong reason for a 3 month ban?

Well again, I don't mind inside jokes and all that (again, I wasn't the one that banned him or moved on his last few posts) - but the problem was that he was way too persistent and uncooperative, and like... jokes are jokes, but honestly, many posts over many days that are nothing but insults? That's not something that's a good example for other forum members, especially newbies. Kind of not good for the athmosphere. Kind of against forum guidelines and etiquette.
Personally, I don't think he should be banned for that long, but I think that reconsidering it should be up to the mod that banned him and the higher-up admin(s). If they're fine with it, I don't mind letting him go early.
Just don't let it go too far guys, seriously. I don't think anyone is interested in outright censorship of the forums, but we don't want to let it go far enough to start setting a bad example for members in general.

I'd say that the various people in the VCA forums that got insulted by him in the last few days don't though.AaronAMV wrote:BaQum I love you :3
I was the one that banned him. He had been flaming, baiting, and insulting members in the VCA forums and elsewhere a LOT since just a few days after getting unbanned. He was warned to stop, yet he insulted once again, in a very much less than obvious yet supposedly meme-ish way. Even if Aaron isn't offended and that was supposed to be "clear" meme post, it wouldn't have taken much for yet another flame post to go through. But then again, knowing how you guys dislike the
Now if you guys quit lamenting mods actions against repeated and excessive flame, and started behaving and just let the meme posts be there only sparingly, I'm sure no one would be lamenting anymore.

That said, I'll shorten it to one week, but that's about it.

tl;dr, that's fair enough./rant

Not saying that the ban was completely unjustified in general but those 3 months came outta nowhere for that one insult, which was what made this so irritating in the first place - that's more fair I reckon, so thanks for listening. Though that kinda goes against the nazi mod principles..
