2007 VCAs Begin!

Postby Vlad G Pohnert » Thu Jan 25, 2007 12:41 am

Hey Everyone,

It's time for the return of the ever so popular VCA awards! Sorry for the delay in getting going this year, but it's been a very busy year so far, but we're now ready to go!

The Rules and structure is pretty much the same as last year with a few minor clarifications added, and so we will be following the same set of deadlines with adjustments done to the dates to take into account the later start and hopefully give enough time in between for everyone to have a chance to nominate and vote on what they think is the best videos for the categories.

Again we will start with category nominations. There is a core list of nominations already added, but as with last year, all suggestions will be considered and added as appropriate. PLEASE read all the accepted but not rejected categories so as not to duplicate something already suggested and Remember, the category should be something that is fair to a reasonable amount of videos and not directly specific to one anime title or song, individual, etc.

We will also have the "VCA Shameless Promotion" forum back again this year for everyone to promote their work as well the worlks of others. Please don't post anything negative or flames against anyone or anything, this is all meant to be in fun

Lastly, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE “ALL VIDEOS IN CATALOG” INDICATION IS VERY IMPORTANT! This indication can act as an “opt out” switch for those members who do not want their videos to participate in this year’s VCAs. This is the second check box found in the first page of "Edit Your Profile" and YOU MUST CHECK IT OFF IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE! I would encourage everyone to enter as the VCAs are part of our community and a chance for some recognition by all our members.

It's also very important to check the list of all your qualifying videos to ensure there are no problems and make the necessary corrections to not be disqualified.

Here are the stats from the primary sweep of how many videos are disqualified currently:

videos disqualified for blank anime: 3251
videos disqualified for ambiguous anime: 108
videos disqualified for blank music: 5334
videos disqualified for ambiguous music: 871
videos disqualified for all non-anime video entry: 80
videos disqualified for no indication of all videos in catalog: 10623
videos qualified: 5695

If any one of your videos is on the above list, it needs to be corrected not for you to be disqualified from the VCAs...

Video Qualification History:

2002 -- 1049
2003 -- 1505
2004 -- 2452
2005 -- 4760
2006 -- 6048

As with last year, we have prizes available and a list will be put up in the near future.

So let the awards begin, and remember that the VCAs exist to have fun and give recognition to some of the videos that we all feel are the best in their category(s)

That pretty much sums it up... basically, anything that is too vague and does not give a specific source

I suggest we move ALL VCA related material to donator only status, and drop the requirement to reach that by either $6 or even $2.

That probably something to consider for next year, this year we'll just follow the same format as last.. It's enough work already

Maybe we should put a link to the thread explaining how vidid works at the top of the forum. Nost members seem to get it, but it seems to escape quite a few.
