With the responses I've seen, it seems uploading is as or more important than the AMV itself to people.
AMVs were around longer than local downloads or the org itself. If worst came to worst the community would return to the mailing lists, LJ, and other underground decentralized areas. Anyways, we have a ways to go before that happens.

People are still gonna bitch. So it really doesn't matter what the Org does.

Perhaps, but a centralized download site isn't the main purpose of this site, and its absence won't dissolve the AMV community. There are other means of distribution aside from the Donut. AMVs have been made and distributed before the Org existed, and I'm sure they will be still if this site ever were to go offline.

but i guess if worse comes to worse that new code about you cant leave opinions on local downloads you didnt download will have to be erased because all amvs will be indirect downloads in some way or another.

It's the truth though! Plus, the Org has trimmed down lots of crappy Evenescence videos (in sacrifice of some good ones). :o

On another note, I think this is a completely retarded move on the label's part. It has no, I repeat, NO benefit for them given that those interested in pirating music aren't going to use anime music videos to do it (hence no increase in sales). I mean, imagine downloading 12 AMVs, removing the footage, then compiling the audio, why the fuck go through the trouble when there are a million other places that do that for you? All this can do is get people upset with them.

I see no practical reason for the music industry to care, in fact it's downright assholish for anyone to do instigate like this. If anything, AMVs are like the radio and act as advertisement.

like posted before - its one job of the labels to enforce copyright legalities or they can become under fire for allowing the distrubution of said music
