Menus Restructured and Reordered

Postby AbsoluteDestiny » Thu Jun 17, 2004 7:09 am

The Hardware and Software pages were getting commercial spam so I've moved these, along with the contests list, to the members menu.

Whilst doing so the members menu has be reorganised so that items that are similar are now next to each other and there is some sense to the order of items. Some of the links are renamed "Other Members" is now "Search for members" etc.

If you spot any bugs or have any other comments regarding these changes, please let us know.

They will return when we actually have something to put there. We aren't ignoring them as things that will be good for the site (and they are on the to do list with every intention of being done), but equally they aren't of any use if there is no content to go with them.

looks sexy, but a few problems (actually these problems appeared before the new menu, they appear in both IE and firefox):

1. On some of the pages, the font of certain elements appear too big.
- The pages include: all the pages relating to the banner contest (banner ad contest, new, my worthy, my unworthy, winners), Top Favorite Videos, Top 30 Anime, Most Used Music, 50 Most Underrated
- The elements with fonts too large include: the hover font in the members and main menu, the categories under global statistics, and the ranking/score numbers under the various top lists
here's a pic

2. The Top 10% Videos is missing a main menu

But great job picking up the slack now that Phade's gone.

1. Yeah, something has happened to one of the CSS files recently causing this dunno when that was... but it wasnt me :)

2. Top 10% has always been missing a main menu in order to fit the other stuff.

Looks good, AD. It's gonna take some getting used to, but it's cool. :)

Yeah but I think you will be able to get used to it - I could never find the link to search for members because it was called "Other Members" and was hidden amongst a bunch of miscellaneous site crap.

I didn't even realise there WAS a button for that till you cleaned them up. Thanks AD!

The new titles are longer, but I think it's a great improvement. There's no longer any ambiguity about what the sections are (the 'All Opinions' section, for instance - now it says exactly what it is). Nice change. ^_^

Could I get some statistics on exactly how long the "search by" function has been down?

Any talk of making an expandable or drop down kind of menu? It seems to be getting pretty lengthy.
