the AIM chatroom was notorious for having random 10-20 min dry spells where no one talked for what ever reason and just idled there. Other than that it was pretty lively.

i remember that. im proud to say i ended a few of them slicences.

LOL

Just so everyone knows, the corruption has started already! The primary difference between the AIM chat room and the IRC chat room is that in the IRC one you can get banned because it's "that time of the month" for NME. Check it out:

<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> Never mind, the link was wrong (farkin Google)
<Tab> So anyways Matt
<Tab> tell me again why we're suddenly in an AMV contest?
<Zarxrax> im pretty sure this was out before the R1 dvds were released too
<Kalium> Zarx: has to be
<Kalium> the number is too low
<Kalium> the premiere date too early
<TsunamiJones> privatecaboose: i'm so downloading that
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> For fun, Tab, you know what that is right?
<Tab> well yeah, but I mean
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> You've never released a real AMV, I want to see one from you
<NicholasDWolfwood> Tab will win.
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> I don't care who wins
<Tab> I thought it was supposed to be about encoding
<PrivateCaboose> tsunami: the works of my bordem
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> I just want to see a video from Tab
* NME|LOLLERSKATES sets mode: +b *!*@ZiRC-2E0E9B64.porch.wa.charter.com
#AMV You are banned (#AMV)
* You were kicked by NME|LOLLERSKATES (Excessive Lameness)

Just for the record, I fucking love NME

Get your own IRC channel or something. Every one of my brother's friends seems to have one of their own - so gee, how hard can it be? Or better yet, keep to AIM.

See, this is why I don't go to chat. I couldn't possibly take these things so seriously.

A note to NME: please ban me if I ever show up there for whatever reason

Hmmm? I've used IRC on Macs since System 7. Nowadays, I use xchat...

Shush, , they are obviously cyborgs. I can't make irc work on mac. For for a while I would give it about a 2 hour try every month or so. I did get it to chat finaly, but never could get the thing to look nice, or stop spouting random numbers at me. 1991ijkao3r434!!!! (LIKE THAT)
Or allow me to download ANYTHING. Thank God for Bittorrent. 1991ijkao3r434!!!! (LIKE THAT)

I'll check out xchat though. ^_^

I'm going to agree with Whee_It's_Me a few posts back. You can make it the unoffical aim chat room, but why not leave it on the site. It's a place a lot of people like to go that are into amvs. This is an amv site. You can have your controled irc channel AND the aim chatroom. Also I'm afraid that somehow the insaneness that is the aim chatroom just spill into something I really enjoy, like the amv mailing list. We have the amv chatroom there to let those that just want to mess around do their thing. Don't like that kind of thing, don't enter. It's your site now, but I still don't see the harm in allowing it to exist as a link on the site.

One thing that really bugs me about the forums right now is there is no place for amv fans to just hang out and bond as people. That's what a community is about.

Thanks for getting rid of all those excess posts though. >_<

Can someone please tell me how I can still get into the aim chat room?

Nope, sorry, not going to happen. One of the old AIM chat guys might tell you though, but I don't think anyone will officially.

He is rather amusing. I especially like the fact that he's still hanging out in the AIM chat room. LOL

Get your own IRC channel or something.

Why would I do that?

Every one of my brother's friends seems to have one of their own - so gee, how hard can it be?

Probably not any harder than showing up in #ZiRC and asking I would imagine.

Or better yet, keep to AIM.

Which begs the question, why is NME STILL in the AIM chat room? Hrmmm...

See, this is why I don't go to chat. I couldn't possibly take these things so seriously.

The only people who take online chat seriously are the ones who make rules and try and ban people...ie NME.

A note to NME: please ban me if I ever show up there for whatever reason

Here's a thought, if NME hates everyone so much...why doesn't he just go and start his own channel? `, )

Maybe because he respects the rules enough to be willing to enforce them?

Go back to Usenet, hatter. We, or at least I, at any rate, know who you are, what you do (as well as have done/claim to have done), and how you do it. Some of us even know specific places where you've tried and failed, and the sequence of events there.

Oh, and the proxies are lame. There's no two ways about that.

NME...enforcing the rules...as well as any other imaginary rules that he invents on the fly! LOL

Go back to Usenet, hatter.

Oh I'm on Usenet, I like to be all over the place. In fact over in the binary.d group I've started a fascinating discussion regarding Onegai Twins.

We, or at least I,

I like it when sheeple refer to themselves as 'we", it's cute.

Huh?

I'm not using proxies! But I'll tell ya, if I don't stop getting banned, well before long the entire pacific northwest will be banned. You do comprehend that my IP isn't exactly static. Every time I get banned I can just give Charter a call and they'll give me a new one. So I wonder, just how many Charter customers have been banned off the .org cause of lil 'ol me? ^_^

Now I'd like to say thank you in making the .Org gay yet again. So far, the place I once loved has gone straight to hell. :?

A bunch of newbs complain, yeah, like, that makes a difference? The fact is, they're newbs, they can't handle it, they don't know what the fuck is going on and never should, thats why we deem them newbs. Like I said in my journal, make the IRC chat a "Help chat" for newbs, and let the regular chat stay where it is. I know damn well that this is mainly centered around those damn newbs... and possibly .Org Elite's that want us dead o.O... Unless you show me proof of a chat regular complaining( not a newb, not an .org elite, a REGULAR.), then I might just retract my statement.

And bahamut, just get someone to invite you in, and once you're there, add the shortcut to your desktop.

You see, when your entire IP range in banned, and mode +e exists, we don't have to worry about collateral damage.

The regular chat ISN'T staying where it is? Has it gone somewhere? Nope, its still there as long as people continue to use it.

Why would a regular complain? If they are a regular, then that would imply that they liked the old chat. If someone disliked the old chat and had reason to complain, then they would not be a regular because they would not use the chat. Thus that argument doesn't really work.

On the other hand, how many people DIDN'T use the chat room, because it wasn't a usefull environment to chat in?

You also don't have to worry about a good 7 to 8 percent of every single person who frequents the .org cause uh, you'll have banned them too! ^_^

And consequently I can then just switch over to my Comcast account or any of a dozen other ISP. He, he, he...the only way to ever ban me completely is to ban everyone or spend every waking minute deleting every new post I make. Either way, it's a whole heck of a lot of work and frustration for the admins and absolutely no skill nor effort on my part.

The thing of it is, most of you never got it. I mean, the fact that trying to ban people is, well, stupid. It doesn't get you anything, all it does is make more work, and it doesn't solve any problems. You might think of it as like the War on Drugs. It doesn't actually SOLVE any problems, it just CREATES problems. Same difference. The War on Drugs is based on the assumption that it's the drugs that are causing the problems rather than the people USING the drugs. Yes, I am like a drug to some of you people, but YOUR the ones who are reading and replying to my posts. *I* am not the problem, *YOU* are.

At the most it might be nice if the board had an "ignore" feature, but anything beyond that is just an excercise in useless stupidity. So, if anyone wants to be ban me here for no reason (like NME did on the IRC channel), go right ahead. I'll be back again and again, you'll block even more people who AREN'T me from this site, and you'll gain nothing but frustratin and wasted time in the futile attempt. *shrugs* Your actions have no meaning for me either way.
