New Super Search Helpful Hints

Postby Phade » Sun Mar 21, 2004 10:06 pm

Hey,

Since we have consolidated the anime listings to the "official" titles, I've added a feature to the Super Search that should help you figure out possibilities in case you get no results. The search will now try to guess what you meant by the anime title.

For example, if you searched for the anime "inuyasha", you will get no results since that is not the official title of "Inu-Yasha". The Super Search will now tell you that there are no results for your query and suggest the anime title "Inu-Yasha".

This should help with some of the confusions over official title spellings.

Good luck and have fun!! ^_^

Phade.

When Google does this, their suggestion is a hyperlink to a corrected search. Maybe that could be implemented at some point?

Tested it a few times with typos, seems to be pretty accurate. :up:

"Random Video with these criteria" would actually be a lot of fun.

Google could actually do this pretty easily with this little bit of html:

Code: Select all
<!-- SiteSearch Google -->
<FORM method=GET action="http://www.google.com/search">
<TABLE bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><tr><td>
<A HREF="http://www.google.com/">
<IMG SRC="http://www.google.com/logos/Logo_40wht.gif"
border="0" ALT="Google"></A>
</td>
<td>
<INPUT TYPE=text name=q size=31 maxlength=255 value="">
<INPUT type=submit name=btnG VALUE="Google Search">
<font size=-1>
<input type=hidden name=domains value="http://www.animemusicvideos.org"><br><input type=radio name=sitesearch value=""> WWW <input type=radio name=sitesearch value="http://www.animemusicvideos.org" checked> animemusicvideos.org <br>
</font>
</td></tr></TABLE>
</FORM>
<!-- SiteSearch Google -->

Seems unlikely as there is no way for a guest user to browse the video catalogue, heck its actually quite difficult for a member to do it.

Nope, I take it back.

The bot could follow the profile links from forum posts. Of course that would only get those that have actually posted something – but that covers quite a few editors.
