I think one week is plenty of time..

at one point my server moved.. I didn't take down the links.. and it took 3 weeks for my site to get back up again.

it wouldn't worry me if my links had been deleted, because it would mean people would know that the server is down.

I don't think it is detecting my links properly for some reason. I know the links are working because I see people downloading...

I agree. All of mine say "bad request" and yet upon right clicking on them, it brings up a window to save the .mpg and then proceeds to download it. So yeah, I know the files are there and people are definitely grabbing them based on my webserver's bandwidth.

I think something is screwy in the code. I believe I mentioned this to you in a conversation Phade. Although, I have tried both with spaces and with "%20" (which used to work). Suggestions?

Still broken. I got my links working by making new ones that were identical, but that lasted a day. Once the algorithm came by in the morning to check...nope.

It would appear Zarxrax and Fluxy are having the same problems based on my conversations with Phade and his with them.

Hey,

After reading the points raised by all here, I am still debating on what is a good timeframe to mark dead links for "execution". Also, I want to make sure that the checker is working correctly. I've already corrected an error when checking links with spaces in the name. Hopefully that what the only problem with the checker. I will (hopefully) get back around to formulating a policy for dealing with bad links. Working on it... ;-)

Thanks again and have fun!! ^_^

I'm not sure if it works. Basically out of my 6 links, in one day, 3 of them will work and 3 others won't. When the next check comes around, another 3 are working and another 3 aren't. It's not any specific video either. It'll change everyday.

That would imply that the algorithm works, but perhaps something about refresh. Perhapt's it's my server and it can't handle 6 things pinging it at the same time (or relatively the same time). I guess it won't matter tha tmuch b/c in the span of one week, all of them have "OK" on it eventually and thus reset the count to disable them.

Here is a ghetto fix that *sometimes* works. Go to your link, edit it, point it to something that you *know* works like http://www.google.com and make it indirect. Update. Check the link now, it *might* say "ok" now. Regardless, go back to it and edit it back to the direct link that you know works. Usually by the next morning *some* of them will be working.

That's how mine is now and I've given up. Basically half my videos say "ok" one day and then some of them go back and replaced by a few of my others. Regardless, within the 7 day period, all of them have "ok" at least once and thus my links stil exist which is all that matters.

I hope that helps!
