Arigatomyna, Just saying that i'm sorry if you or any one you know was truely insulted by any of the flames. I'll admit that i've not always been intelegent with my posts, but i don't let flamers get to me. I personally don't believe that anyone truely intends any malace. I've had a pleasant stay so far and hope as much for everyone else here. If you do have someone in particular in mind for malicious flaming try to PM them, let them know that they had crossed the line. Anyways, just trying to help.

No, it would be Translation: STOP WHINING AND ENJOY YOURSELF.

I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that the newbie flaming isn't half as bad as it has been.

I get the feeling phade may eventually want to employ a "Post a stupid question, get banned" system. Saves veterans from getting pissed of and leaving, and also smartens up the noobs, if they understand the consequences of being an idiot, they won't be idiots.

OK, maybe that idea is far too elitest to work. Worth a test run though.

Absolute truth. On one hand, a lot of noobies do end up upset, disappointed and pissed at the forum and even the org in general if they get treated harshly upon coming in. On the other hand, this is truly the survival of the fittest - because the noobs that are weeded out in their first week or so are often simply not fit or in any way prepared to deal with the forum.

It might be harsh, but it does manage to keep the really noobish noobs out of social contexts where they don't belong.

Still, I'd be a bit more welcoming to noobies, especially those that show some signs of intellect. A lot of them really do grow up to be productive form members.

Personally, I think there should be a waiting period when new people join the forums between when they sign up and when they can first post so they have a forced lurking period where they can learn things by reading other posts. And/or perhaps something like the EULAs on software that they have to say that they have read through some certain things (forum rules, basic guides, etc.) before being allowed to post/join (the forums, not the 'org in general). That way, if someone asks a question like "Why does Premiere keep crashing when I import my downloaded DivX footage?" they obvoiusly should have already known this because they said they had read everything they were supposed to and they're fair game to be flamed.

I would tend to agree that people who are serious about this and aren't just doing it because their friends told them "d00d! Make an AMV! U gets lots of chiX0rs!" are going to shrug off the initial flames and get the help they want/need. Anyone that's thin-skinned enough to not be able to take a few flames around here may want to reconsider whether or not they are ready for this whole internet-thing... from what I've seen, flames around here are pretty tame, and half the time people will answer the stupid question in the flame...

And questions are raised as to why newbies are generally treated so poorly... :?

Here's one reason...

At least it was (apparently) posted in WOT and not General AMV or Video Software Help... that's probably up there for the number one most-often-made newbie mistake, posting something in entirely the wrong forum...
