New feature: Streaming Video

Last night I was checking out the streaming feature on my laptop, but when I logged in just now, I noticed that it was prompting me to leave star ratings for them! While I saw somewhere that said you *can* leave ratings on videos, I was not aware that we *HAD TO* leave star ratings. As I did not even watch the full videos, I feel very much against this.

I agree it's rather unproductive to require ratings, but considering the site does require ratings when you download it kinda makes sense they'd require ratings for streaming. Just give them a 1 and move on, after all they apparently weren't good enough to watch all the way through.

Go ahead, all of the videos I marked for re-encode last night were done by the time I woke up this morning. It would also give me the chance to make sure delete requests and re-uploads are being handled properly by the new code.

Derobert added two other servers to the encoding process which added four more significantly faster processor cores. Each of those cores spits out encodes at the same rate as all of Nago's cores combined so processing power is currently 500% that of last week.

Awesome video streaming is awesome I was also going to complain about the 30 sec thing, but the more I hit the random button, the less I see it as a problem for me. One of the other things I noticed is how much romance/sentimental vids I ran into so far compared to the rest, unless that's a coincidence...

Youtube= non-members watch videos (which seems to be the problem)
AMV ORG= YOu have to be amember to watch em and for some you have to be a donator.

And don't forget that you can't embed them offsite (yet?). I still say that the whole embedding thing was one of the biggest reasons that Hosatchel got as big as it did.
