Clip reversal in Premiere

Postby Garylisk » Sat Jun 29, 2002 2:18 am

How do I get Premiere to play a clip or selection of a clip backwards instead of forwards. Do I set the speed to negatives or what? I've been looking around in the program for a whiel now and still can't figure out how to reverse a clip.

Yes.

Oh and it tells you that in the manual, oddly enough.

This one goes down on the list of FFAQs

Just as a hint, if you're going to play a clip backwards by setting the speed to -100%, you should uncheck the box "Deinterlace When Speed is Below 100%" in the Field Options settings for the clip in question to make the quality not suck.

that would explain why the quality sux when i did it in the negatives a while back. thankx for the tip.

Set speed to -100%, then check/uncheck, reverse feild dominance... and there you go. just remember that the clip is only rendered backwards so if you plan on editing in the timeline the video at the beginning of the timeline will be at the end, and so on. At least I think that's how it works...

Hey, Gary, what part of "must be no greater than 80x80 pixels" don't you understand? You've been using that avatar for a while now... :-)

You should also make sure to go to "Project->Project Settings->Keyframe and Rendering" and set your fields option to No Fields. If you don't set it to No Fields, jaggies could occur even if you deinterlace when going backward.
