this should be in video software help.
is your source footage really other amvs, or is it just an amv you made that you're trying to import into AE?
if you're using other amvs, that's generally frowned upon, but will also tend to not work because a lot of amvs on this site are encoded with xvid (or divx)
it would help if you could post the exact text of the error you're getting, along with the codec that your source is encoded with (along with the program you made it in if applicable)

I don't know much about after effects but i don't think its possible to adjust it to work well with Xvid footage unless you use an Avisynth script to import it. You need to re-encode your footage to huffy for best performance.thebattosai wrote:aw..man...

Since that codec makes large files its best to only encode the clips you need instead of the whole episode.
You can cut the clips you need by using virtualdub or virtualdub mod

AE isn't really something you want to be using for normal editing
so the norm would be to make your vid in premiere, then import the project into after effects
and there isn't a way to make divx/xvid footage work (unless you count making an avs script and importing those...but editing with avs scripts is slow)
your best bet is probably to take clips in virtualdub(/mod) and save those with a lossless codec (like huffyuv or lagarith)
