Looks like it might be a codec problem
What codec are your clips encoded with?

After the "VEGAS/AMVAPP/ genius etc" topic, I actually still have it uncompressed right now and intended to encode it with xivd in VDub Mod

if it's just a few stray frames throughout the video (and no more than 3 frames like this in a row)
then i would try using the mask feature in vdub. select the offending frame, and choose to mask them.

if this is all throughout the video though, ya may not wanna try it. could look choppy :/

Where did this video come from? Because it looks like the result of poor encoding by early fansubbers of naruto. Once you have thatt shit on there it's pointless to try to get rid of it.

Try to not use those frames basically.

well u got the fansubbing right, but I dunno if they're early encodes...

Unfortunately, when I look into vegas, the same parts after perfectly fine. Its only when AFTER I render my uncompressed AMV, it looks like that, all blocky...

select the in point, the out point (or just in and out on the same frame if you only want 1 frame selected)
then mask it. so long as the surrounidng frames are not messed up, this should do the trick.
i usually use this for getting rid of stray frames

hmm, looking at it again, it seems to be doing that during a transition.
in which case, masking in vdub would look bad.

What I wonder is whyevery clip in vegas is fine in the timeline (and while watching it regularly...) but when I set my render, after it's done then it's filled with blocks. I'm thinking it's my settings. (Found out how to adjust my rendering settings for AVIs in the "Vegas Help" topic a little down below...

I know exactly what this is.

This is a codec problem.

This is what happens when the wrong MPEG-4 codec decodes something that was encoded with a different (Usually when DivX decodes XviD or the reverse) Even if they SHOULD be universially compatable for decoding.

Go into VirtualDub or something, see what the video streams FourCC is and then see what FourCC is being used to actually decode it. You'll see they arn't congruent right there.

The same thing also happens when you have low memory while decoding the video (or during encoding since you also have to read from the file then) and as a consequence, B-frames and I-frames get messed up because the software can't read the reference points. You can see that a lot when you try seeking through any one of those crappy DivX 5 fansubs out there. Go back and forth a few minutes and you'll see it for sure.
