Using Diva on mac

After a lot of procrastion I'm making AMV's again but forgot lot of the info I use to know. For instance Codecs. I'm using Diva to turn .avi's into .mov's which video compression should I use? thanks

Don't use fansubs for your music video--your final quality will suck. Get the DVDs and your viewers will love you for it.

Are you using a lossy or lossless codec? Good lossless codecs are Apple Animation, Apple Motion JPEG, and Uncompressed. Good lossy codecs are Apple Photo JPEG and Apple Pixlet Video.

Um... wait what does Lossy mean?

lossy means that you loose quality when you encode. (you never get as good of quality as you put in)

likewise, lossless means you don't loose quality.

files encoded with lossless codecs tend to be bigger than ones encoded with lossy codecs
