OSX equivalent to VDub for Saving Clips?

So, in VirtualDub, you can just select the in-point and out-point of a video, choose the compression, etc, and save just that selection. With Quicktime, you have to copy the segment, create a new video, paste it, and then save it.

I'm looking for something a little faster - I'm trying to grab various clips from my AMV connection, so whatever it is will have to handle the usual assortment of codecs. Suggestions would be incredibly appriciated.

have you tried a avs script with Quicktime movies? It should work.
It was with:
DirectShowSource("C:\path to your video\video.mov")
and with an avyscript you can set also in an oupoint with:
Trim(number of startframe,number of endframe)

Well the whole thing sounds a bit to easy for me... Maybe I didn´t really understand what you want :/

Yeah, see, as the topic indicates I'm looking for the OSX equivalent of VDub - i.e. something I can run on my MacBookPro.

I imagine worst-case, I can do all the clipping on my XP machine, transfer the HuffYUVs/whatever to my MBP, and then convert to Cinepak then, but I'd rather get it all done on one machine.

i was kinda forced into teaching an imovie class last year.

while i educated myself on imovie, i looked for something on osx that could do what vdub does.
found a few that claimed to have the features, but did didn't :/
so as far as i see, nope. no vdub match for osx.

there is however a program coming out that lets you use windows aps on a mac (and no, i don't mean bootcamp)

do some googling for it, seen it like 2 weeks ago somewhere. you gotta pay for it though

I haven't used it myself...but I found it while trying (in vain) to find a mac equivalent of AviSynth...seems to be worth checking out

Well, there is Darwine.

I don't know how much of an equivalent it is to WINE itself (since I don't have a Mac and my mom wouldn't let me use her iBook for that, not to mention that it's too old), but I've had some success in getting VDubMod to run with WINE on my Linux setup - actually using it effectively, though, is another matter entirely.
