I need to extract sound

is there a way to extract sound without virtual dub mod?

cause when I extract this one audio from this MKV file it sound all weird.

so I was wondering if there is a program out there that better at ripping sound.
does anyone know?

it says I'm missing this "mkvextract.exe"

where do I get it?

your audio might sound wierd if you have more than one codec trying to decode it
(happened to me when I was trying to play a dvd right after installing ffdshow...2 dobly digital [.ac3] decoders = funny sound)

okay I extracted the sound but it says it's an MKV file?
is there a way encode it to WAV or MP# or maybe ogg?

Im not sure what to do about that.
Make sure you only demux the audio from the file.
Usually when i extract auido from an mkv it saves it as a mp3 or ogg. Those are some of the sound types you usually find in mkv files

and when I try to download mkvtoolmix it brings me to this page that has bunches of links.

which one do i download?

Here is a screenshot of the program with a mkv file opened
mine is outdated so the new version might be a lil different

You check the audio file(s) in it and click Extract.
Usually they extract as an audio file.
The video i have open has ac3 audio in it

also you should take Kariudo's advise
It could be something with your codecs causing the audio to sound weird
