VicBond007's Cool Screen Capture Movie?

Postby y2kwizard » Sun Dec 08, 2002 4:51 pm

In Vicbond007's DDR AMv, he has some footage of his editing the video in Premiere and other apps. I'm wondering if anyone knows how he did this.

Is there a certain program he used? I've tried to find a program to do this before, but most of the programs were crap.

Did he just take A LOT of screen shots? That would have been a pain in the rump, and, as extremely awesome an action AMV editor that he is, I don't think he'd take the time to do that many screen shots.

So, does anyone have a clue?

Lots of screenshots is what I was told. Something like 1200 of 'em

buttload of screenshots is right. Me and the printscreen key got to be good friends. However afterwards I discovered there are tools to do that for you like MS Camcorder (OLD SKOOL!) and Camtasia.

One question for ya, VicBond007: When I've taken screenshots of Premiere, the video in the Monitor window tends to disappear. This does not happen when I use something like Camtasia or the likes. How did you keep the video in the Monitor window?

Oh, and I do want to congratulate you on the project. I loved it. I really liked your Shining Collection and When Worlds Collide, as well. You hae talent in the action video category!

OK, that doesn't happen to me, but I think I know why it might be happening to you. If your monitor is dispaying rendered footage (either from a rendered preview clip or from ALT+scrubbing) then it will disappear. dunno why, but it's got something to do with directshow. My advice is if you really need to do it the hard way, disable the directshow filters for the codecs you're using (WARNING: you won't get them back unless you reinstall the codec, and if you disable them, you will LOSE fullscreen playback for that codec.) and it should work because Windows will draw the video without directshow overlay. Personally though, I'd just use camtasia and save yerself the headache. I believe it's a 30 day trial, and I doubt it'll take that long to capture what you need ;)
