Looking for a video editor per these qualities

Postby PIB-Chaotic » Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:51 am

I need recommendations for new video editing software

What it MUST be capable of
-Splitting imported files into clips (like WMM)
-Must NOT constantly freeze
-User friendly/decent interface

A nice bonus would be a nice array of effects, but the original 3 qualities are of a much higher priority to me.

Ty in advance.

No professional video editing suites that I know of have the ability to split clips...if you want a really "good" video editor, chances are you're going to have to split the clips yourself. It's a pain, but it's more accurate and you may end up saving yourself some hard drive space by not making clips that you know you won't be needing.

If you want my recommendation, I use Vegas and I like it a lot. The interface isn't too complicated if you're coming from a program like WMM, there's a nice guide at the top of this forum to get you started, and it doesn't freeze, ever.

Well, that last part's a lie. It's crashed on me about ten times, but that was only when I was using *extensive* masking, by which I mean mask on top of mask on top of mask, etc. Other than that it's a very stable program. And there are quite a few effects.

Of course...you're going to have to drop a pretty hefty wad of cash to get it...

I also prefer to make my own clips, but Magix Movie Edit Pro 11 can do all this, plus it's cheap to boot. $50 US in store (or less if you can find it on sale at someplace like Best Buy). The UK version is available in a Plus Edition with a few additional features for £49.99 online (usually £59.99), less for the standard version.

Older version are also available if you look around, possibly for even less.
