Problem running VirtualDubMod

Postby EchoesofSilence » Thu Sep 28, 2006 1:57 am

So, several months in absentia and a new computer later (complete with fresh d/l and install of the AMVApp as of a couple weeks ago), I started work on a new project this evening, and moving through the process to VDubMod, I get an error trying to open the program:

"VirtualDubMod.exe - Unable to Locate Component

"This Application has failed to start because AVICAP32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Two reinstallations later, and the error persists. Searching my harddrive for the filename turns up nothing anywhere.

Browsing my dial-up though this forum for the last hour hasn't turned up any apparent similar problems, so I'm left to wonder...

Did I miss something?

That DLL belongs to Windows. Seems like your Windows installation is either incomplete or defective. The function of this DLL is:
avicap32.dll is a module that contains functions for the Windows API that is used to capture AVI movies and video from web cameras and other video hardware.

Well, that explains why no one else seems to have the problem. How should I go about putting/replacing that file on my comp?

And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

If you have an installation or recovery disk, you should find it there.
