HELP! Unable to play XVID/PCM Video...

Postby AtheistPreacher » Fri Sep 01, 2006 9:42 pm

I'm talking specifically about the following video:

Now, I could play this video just fine on my old computer. However, my old machine recently went down, and I got a nice new HP 8000 series notebook.

I downloaded the K-Lite standard pack, plus the X-Vid pack and installed both. I still can't get the above vid to work.

The only thing I get is broken-up audio in WMP. Media Player Classic and Quicktime can't open it at all.

Any help would be appreciated...

Codec packs sometimes cause more problems esspecially when you install more than one. I'd suggest just installing the individual codec for xvid ( http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml ) on top of whatever you have if you can't/don't want to uninstall it.

Otherwise use a media player like VLC ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ ) which has inbuilt decoders for the majority of formats and codecs.
