if you installed it a while ago, it is normal for a computer to run slower as you put more things on it (regradless of whether or not you think you are adding things)
a few things that may help free up some memory/genearlly imporve system performance:
defragment your hard drive (open my computer, and right click the drive to defrag, select properties, and click the tools tab)
go into the control panel and start the add/remove programs program get rid of programs that you use rarely or not at all.
this next one can cause a few problems if you don't know what you're doing, but to free up some ram, go to start, run, type msconfig.
go to the services tab, and scroll down to find things that are running, but that you don't need (like itunes, msn/aol messenger, etc)
if you don't know what it is...you should probably just leave it alone
next, go to the startup tab and repeat the previous step (this requires a restart after you finish)
another option (costs a little, but may be worth it) is to buy some new/upgrade your ram.
512MB is ok for editing (some people can get by only with 256MB 0_0)
but 1GB of ram can prove useful.
