Any way to run .mkv and .ogm through VDub?

I'd like to work with these files. If I'm not mistaken, it's just .mkv that won't run through. .ogm goes through and without subtitles (since you can turn them on and off in your media player). But after compression, they're back! Anyway to get rid of them?

Are you talking about Vdub or.....Vdub mod? cuz you can run mkv's threw vdub mod fine...........and I think the reasons you think the subtitles are gone is because you can't see the whole picture when you import ....

There are some .mkv files encoded and compressed in certain ways that give even Vdubmod a hard time. For these rare situations, find and download a pack called MKVtoolnix. It comes with a few apps. One of them in particular allows you to split the audio and video streams of the .mkv file.

Once that's done, Vdubmod should have no problems importing the video stream.

Go into Streams -> Streams List, and then click on the subtitle streams, and then click disable, no more subs when you re-encode.

For any times that you can't open something in VirtualDubMod (MKVs with h264, OGMs with "VBR" MPEG4 compression, etc), go to the "open file" screen, then change the pull-down menu in the bottom-left into "DirectShowSource" then open it. It'll generate an AVS script which'll allow the file to open properly.

Win.

Thanks! I was able to open the file and disable the text. Haven't seen if my compressed clip really gets rid of the subtitles though, we shall see.

Does regular VirtualDub have any advantages over VirtualDubMod?

Hmm, I just noticed the file I was able to alter was a .ogm. My .mkv file is having a few problems. When it opens, the frames are very choppy. No option to disable the text. I tried opening with the DirectShowSource option, but I got: "AVI Import filter error"

No.

And as for your import error, this is most likely because you are missing one or both of the following programs:

CCCP: http://cccp-project.net
AVIsynth: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/avis ... e?download

CCCP is the directshow decoder for all media types. AVIsynth is the script running program VirtualDub uses.
