AMVapp and Windows Media Player

Postby Skysaurus » Fri Jul 28, 2006 9:27 pm

Just the other day I installed the AMVapp on my computer. I noticed today while watching some AMVs in Windows Media Player that when the AMV started playing, a couple of FFDShow icons would appear in the lower right corner of the taskbar. After the AMV finished playing, Windows Media Player would always crash/be forced to shut down. Anyone have any idea what's happening with that? I un-did the install with System Restore and everything's working again, but I would like to know what the problem is since I plan to reinstall the AMVapp when I want to start working on an AMV.

I believe it's something to do with the file associations in ffdshow. Uncheck any that you use other players for, and it should go away.

You have more than one codec trying to play your videos, and one of them is ffdshow. Usually that causes your players to crash when you open the file, but your error can happen too.

FFDshow is not a player :)

That's what I get for learning about ffdshow when I didn't have a clue about all this and then not thinking to check that I hadn't messed up somewhere originally. :/
