First off, maybe you should go check out your codex box.
Go to Tools, then Options, then Compatability. Maybe you need to check some...I'm not sure what some of them do...I just randomly click on them..^^''
I hope that helps...^_^

tried it, I only got this:

cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

i guess my dream omf making AMv is gone *sigh and gose deletes everything*

Automatic Codec Download = 95% of the time, never ever works

I'd like to know what the clips you're trying to import are encoded in. If they're DivX or XviD, I'd highly recommend downloading the newest XviD binary. http://koepi.org/XviD-1.1.0-30122005.exe

If they're in a different format... then yeah. Get VirtualDub, open a clip, and see what it's encoded with. If you don't have the codec VirtualDub will pop up with an error and tell you what the codec is that's missing. If you have the codec because it opens just fine... then you've got a different problem.
