Sudden VirtualDub problem

Postby Trilaan » Tue Jul 18, 2006 1:16 am

For some reason I can't quite pinpoint, suddenly my copy of VirtualDubMod will not compress anything under Fast Recompress mode. Every time I set it to that it delivers the message "VideoSourceAVI error: The source image format is not acceptable. [error code -2]"

Does anyone have an idea of why that would suddenly start popping up and how to fix it? Thanks for the help.

Why would you want to use fast recompress instead of full?

To ensure that no unwanted filtering takes place other than what I've indicated in my avisynth script.

Because fast doesn't change colorspaces. And what Trilaan just said.

Gah...doublepost.

What's the input? What compression method are you trying to save with? Is the resolution mod16?

Ah ha.

This is what I love about the org. Learn something new every hour or so.

So that's why I need to be able to use that compression option. Probably this should be as easy as reinstalling the program but that didn't help the last couple of times I tried it.

I'm just attempting the standard Xvid 2-pass encoding method. that's all I've ever needed. At the moment the resolution is 720X480. I've changed it in the AVIsynth to no effect.

May seem silly, but do you have the most uptodate version?

My version does work just fine. in fact the video I'm trying to export has already been exported several times but the size was never what I was looking for. all of a sudden it started doing this. So it's no problem with the version, something just got mucked up somewhere.

Okay, well, I got it fixed. had some stray virtualdubs loaded on my machine. removed em all and redownloaded the program. we'll see how it turns out. if it works I'll have a new music video up shortly.
