Having problems with Vegas

Postby Mango_Ice-Cream » Tue Jul 18, 2006 12:44 am

Whenever i try to play my anime in Vegas, there isn't anything in the little video screen on the bottom left. Why can't i see anything?

use a program called gspot to find out what codec your working with... im guessing you are trying to get xvid/divx files to run in it. If you are there are going to be some complications. I have ways of getting it to work but I don't feel like explaining them.. if you really want to know pm me.. I'm guessing you are using fansubs witch is against the site rules.. and there are guides on the site for editing dvd footage..

You realise that use of divx or xvid isn't in any way related to the guys problem right?

isnt it? when he says he cant see anything, i'd assume he means he sees a blank black screen which would be because he is using a codec vegas dislikes.. like xvid....not so much divx, but yea...

use virtualdub or virtualdubmod.. make sure you have the right codecs.. I recommend lagarith you'll get smaller file size and the playback seems better than what huffyuv gives.. so either huffyuv or lagarith are the main suggestions you're going to get for conversions.

Frame rate issue probably. If your computer sucks Vegas takes a while to load frames so it maybe a black screen. Only time I've ever dealt with that issue was because it was a framerate issue.

Close vegas and open it up again and see if the file plays again. If not test the file in a another media player and see if it plays. If all else fails, delete the clip and re-import it back into Vegas. It should play then.

What they said :/ Vegas is amazing, but it doesn't like some codecs.
