So basically, you're saying is that, the saved footage that I caught from my laptop with the DVD Decrypter ISN'T transferrable?

Protip: If you have a DVD-ROM on your Desktop, and you plan to use your Desktop to edit with, install DVD Decyptor on your Desktop, then rip from it instead of your laptop.

Adding the laptop into the equation is an unnecessary step, which adds more unnecessary steps.

If all you've done with your footage is encode it for editing, or if you have just the vobs themselves, then rerip the DVDs on the computer you're editing with.

Is it possible for you to network the laptop and the other computer? This might seem an obvious question, but earlier on I was going to ask whether the other computer had a DVD drive.

Okay, the only reason for these kind of questions is cause that my mom is doing something very important on the big computer and if I download something, it MAY mess it up and she will be really mad if it affects what she's doing.

You know how sometimes bugs and viruses can get into things without us knowing about it? That's the only concern I have for this situation.

Viruses can't "just get" into programs. They have to be intentionally placed there.

And if the laptop is yours, but the deskop isn't (it's called a desktop, no offense, but calling it "the big computer" makes you sound five), then don't use the desktop. Rather find Free (as in freedom) editing software and use it instead of windows movie maker. It may be advanced, but then, WMM isn't vrery advanced either.
