You can achieve some effects even with WMM... using VirtualDubMod and some XML scripts... but if you mean stuff like Euphoria and things... yeah. WMM = very no.

Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop.

Sony Vegas.

Those are the ones I know, and lots of the coolest vids I've seen were done using Premiere/After Effects.

Don't expect these programs to be as easy-to-use as WMM--they aren't. They're professional-grade programs with professional-grade power and thus professional-grade GUIs. Not to mention, professional-grade price tags.

Good luck in your search.

You should try out Adobe Premiere Elements http://www.adobe.com/products/premiereel/index.html It's Adobe Premiere but more user friendly. There's a few things taken out, but only things you probably wouldn't even notice were gone.

I wish we could edit, but it's also much cheaper.

Hahahahahahahahahaha... Elements... Oh boy... *cough* *hack* Ahem.

Also not mentioned earlier are Ulead MediaStudio, Uleade VideoStudio, and, er, I think Pinnacle has a native editing software too.

Oh? It's that bad? I've heard that it was good. I'm a Vegas guy myself, so I'd never go to Adobe. But to the OP, there's two lists stickied at the top of this forum you might want to look at.

You don't, this is true.

But it's nice to be able to precisely control clip timing, is it not? Windows Movie Maker is very clumsy in this aspect, only allowing about 2x or 0.5x speed modifications.

And then there's video overlay, which again, WMM does sloppily--using a transition frozen in the middle, you can achieve a clip on top of another... but there will always be trailing frames.

WMM combined with VirtualDub is a competent program for starting off. But I know I've gotten frustrated at it because it can't do something I consider basic, that I know other programs can accomplish easily. So if you can get what you want out of WMM, that's fine, more power to you. If not, then there are the ones which cost moneys.
