Panasonic DV Codec error

Postby AthenAltena » Fri Jul 07, 2006 9:47 pm

I've tried to start compression in VirtualDub but keep getting the error message

"Cannot start video compression: The source format is not acceptable (error code -2)"

I thought it might be because I was inputting an MPEG originally, but now it's an AVI and it still won't go. I also changed the color depths in case that had something to do with it, and can't find the error message anywhere online. Help?

what processing mode are you using?
I just always leave it on full processing mode...but that's just me.

what colorspace is your footage in? perhaps the codec you want to use doesn't support that colorspace (random guess)

is the resolution that you are using evenly divisible by 16?
(I remember reading something about this in EADFAG)

Is your input exactly 720x480? That's the only resolution I've gotten the Panasonic DV codec to work at. I've found that even 704x480 doesn't work.

Thanks everyone. I managed to get it working last night. Apparently the output wasn't exactly 720x480 and was off by a few pixels, probably my fault. But it's up and working now.
