ok! Everytime I install the amvapp, i install it like a normally do. I got it from the guides by the way if u dun know what im talking about (A&E's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video mk 2) Anyway, I try to import a video into windows movie maker 2. So far everything's goin well then i drag a clip into the timeline and wmm2 closes immediatly. and a small FFdshow icon appears in the taskbar so i figured mabey that was the problem so i uninstall it. and then i try to import the video again and i can't because the avi is not supported...so i reinstall it. It seemed like i couldn't import the video without FFdshow but with it i can't work on an amv!! Whats wrong with amvapp!! It usually happens with an AVI video =[
I need help. I've been using amvapp for a year and a half and none of this happens!! why now!! ='[

What makes you think it's amvapp? It sounds like it's the codec of the avi files you're trying to edit with.

Are they xvid or huffyuv? If they're not huffyuv, that's your problem. Convert them in Virtualdubmod or (if it's dvd rips) save the clips directly to huffyuv.

If it's huffyuv, try uninstalling ffdshow (from the start menu), download the more recent version ffdshow and install that. Restart the comp and see if wmm likes huffyuv any better. If it still doesn't, look at your recent changes.

What happened before you reinstalled the amvapp the first time? You said clips used to work fine. What changed between the last time they worked fine and this time? Did you download and install anything before the clips suddenly stopped working? Were you using a different format from what you usually use?

well, when it's not installed, I can play avi files but only hear the sound/music and can't use em in wmm. So i always install it after my brother erases the computer =/ then i start working on amv's n stuff. ok mabey amvapp is not the problem lol...

neway I tried different ways to solve the problem and this very wierdly seemed to be the solution:
I imported the avi file into wmm2 and everything worked fine cuz ffdshow was installed. so now that it was already imported, i uninstalled ffdshow...i dragged the clips into the timeline n it worked nornally...

wmm didn't close immediatly like it did when it drove me crazy!!!

I did the same thing and the same steps everytime i installed amvapp. I dunno mabey I changed something by accident.

ima try to restart and install amvapp all over again n follow the steps more slowly...cuz my brother erasing the computer, became an everyday thing and so did installing amvapp =/
