Windows Movie Maker Question: What does this mean?

Postby Kaname-Sama » Fri Jul 07, 2006 1:05 am

When I tried to import a file it told me "The file insertfilenamehere.wmv is not indexed and cannot be imported."

What does indexed mean and can I index it so it will import into Windows Movie Maker?

what type of footage is it? (dvd or other)
if you're trying to get dvd footage, there are a few steps involved.
I would suggest that you Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides. it is a very useful guide that explains everything you need to know about footage prep.

if you're using downloaded footage...shame on you (unless it isn't available to purchase in your country)...but the guide can help you with that too IIRC.

as for your question...I can't say what indexed is off the top of my head, but it is one of the steps outlined in the guide
