The Repeated Question, From The Confused Guy

Postby jkgohan » Thu Jul 06, 2006 1:51 pm

Ok, im starting a new AMV and i need help with ripping the DVD's. I havnt used DVD's in so long and how i used to do it was rip them with DVD Decryptor then do something with DVDIndex and DVD2AVI. But i would just rip the whole DVD onto one AVI file that would cut off at 3 hours when the DVD had over that much on it. Now that im going back to useing DVD on my new AMV i wanted to try something differnt and i have no ideal on how to do it. I wanna JUST rip the clips from the episodes that i need. So i would go though the DVD's and find the clips that i need and rip them to my computer and then turn ONLY them into AVI files. I have my AMV planned out and i know wat clips from wat episodes that i need.

Is there a way that i can go into the DVD's and ONLY rip clips from the DVD that i need? Im talking like 10-20 sec. clips from various places in the DVD, and then just turn those 10-20 sec. clips into AVI files. I kind of just want to have clips like the ones that u can dl off sites where there like 10-20 sec. of certain parts of the episodes and they have no subs or audio.

Can i plz get some help cause i really wanna get this AMV finshed! Thx so much for those who help.

Ill try and keep up with this thread but if not and u wanna get hold of me better, u can contact me at.

You want to use the huffyuv clips approach from the guides:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... meth1.html

You'll rip the vobs with dvddecryptor just like normal (follow the guides so it won't do that weird cut-off thing at 3hrs you were talking about). You'll save the vob project in dvd2avi (DGIndex) and open it in Virtualdub via an avisynth script. Then you can select exactly which clips you want and only save them to avi using huffyuv.

If the DVD isn't copy protected in any way, you can do this with DGIndex. But if the DVD is protected, you have to use a ripper. SmartRipper allows you to rip single chapters.
