Audio Problems with Windows Movie Maker 2

Postby Shadowfox85 » Sat Jul 01, 2006 3:02 am

Well hope this is the place for help.

Anyways I have an audio problem with WMM2. I have about a 5 minute mp3 file i want to use, so I import it, but when I play it in WMM, it says its 8 minutes, which i start thinking is strange. Well i try doing my project, but whenever i try editing, say somewhere in the song, i do some trimming to match a certain lyric in the music, alright, the footage and the lyrics are in sync. So i start from the beginning and watch what i have. When it gets to that place where i did the editing, the footage and the lyrics are off, by like 10 or 20 seconds!!(as in audio is behind the footage) If I try just clicking on a section of the music, try listening to it, and apply the proper footage, it will be off. The only way I can get it right is by starting from the beginning, waiting for that section to play, stop it, and edit. its frustrating and time consuming. I shouldn't have to replay the song just to get to the right place. I dont know if anyone else has had this problem before.

Any ideas would be grateful, thank you

I bet if you convert that MP3 file into a WAV file, all your problems will be solved. Video editing programs don't like trying to work with DivX and/or Xvid encoded AVI video and/or MP3 encoded audio.

Convert the MP3 to a WAV file. Editing programs, although they accept MP3s, will sometimes barf like that.

This section of EADFAG deals with MP3 to WAV conversion:

Other programs like Audacity and BeSweet can also do the conversion from MP3 to WAV.
