I'm back fom the dead, but have a serious problem.....

Post by Kenshin8518 » Thu Jun 15, 2006 8:18 pm

Well it's been years since i've posted (haven't posted since like... 2003 o.O)

well anyways I have a problem that none of my friends know how to fix... it's freakin odd heh...

okay the problem is as follows:

I am using DVD Decryptor to rip all the files off the DVD, but upon taking those said files into DVD2AVI, there comes my problem.

The footage plays fine in any of my dvd players (windows media player, Win DVD, etc..) but upon checking the file in DVD2AVI, and upon saving the .d2v file to be put into V-Dub, the playback is completely haywire.

The footage will play for 2 seconds, then skip back 1 second, and repeat this.

If you need an example of whats going on I can send you one. IM me on:

AIM: CoolmanJon86
MSN: CoolmanJon86@hotmail.com
YIM: Heartbroken244@yahoo.com

if anyone can help i'd appreciate it. heh....

well thanks for reading and hope everyone here is okay.. I see Pwolf is still here... wonder how many "vets" are still here lolz...

I'd say update to DGIndex/DGDecode, which is the natural evolution of DVD2AVI/MPEG2Dec-whatever. The site is here:

http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html

If that doesn't fix it, I got nothin' else to suggest, except maybe update VDubMod.

sorry for double-post (can't edit =/)

anyways the update helped... for some reason... and this confuses me even more then the original problem.... there are still spots on the footage that skip.. and they skip a lot quicker.. (like.. i'd say for every 1 second of footage, it skips back a 1/2 second).. but luckally, "most" of the footage is intact and okay to use... so i'm going to work with what i've got..

also, i can't exactly remember it's been to dang long, but how do you fix the problem w/ Vdub saying the file cannot be found. I put the AVIsynth file, the .d2v, and the actual footage all in the same folder (C:\SEARCH_FOR_THE_SEVEN\VIDEO_TS\file.extension), with the AVIsynth file only having one string of text:

MPEG2Source("C:\SEARCH_FOR_THE_SEVEN\VIDEO_TS\opening.d2v")

yet when I go into V-dub, and open the AVIsynth file, it says it canot find the file... so i'm like "uhhhh yeaaa..." lol...

thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!

is your source progressive or interlaced? and are you selecting force film if it is progressive and not if it is interlaced?

Leave out the full path and see if that helps. If everything's in the same folder, you can have just the filename itself and it'll still work.

Example:
AVISource("hello.avi")

works just as well as

AVISource("C:\Documents\video\hello.avi")

provided the script and the file are in the same directory.

You may also have to delete MPEG2Dec3.dll if that's still in AviSynth's plugins directory. That would be conflicting with DGDecode, because both use MPEG2Source (which makes sense, considering DGDecode grew out from MPEG2Dec3).

okay first off here is the V-dub error i get:

AVISynth open failure:
MPEG2Source: couldn't open source file, or obsolete D2V file
(C:\SEARCH_FOR_THE_SEVEN\VIDEO_TS\opening.avs, line 2)

and here is what is in my AVS file:

MPEG2Source("opening.d2v")

so i don't get this error at all lol

You have the wrong plugin in your avisynth plugins folder. Use the DGDecode.dll that came with DGIndex.

Yeah I found the old MPEG2Dec3.dll still there so I removed it... heh..

I should have this new AMV up... just gotta get the FTP to work... I put in the username/pass and the address correctly, but it says it can't connect.. like.. it logs into the ftp, but when it goes for username/pass it says it can't connect

okay I removed it as I said earlier.. but still.. it don't work... my last AMV I made by not making an AVS file, and not saving a d2v file thing.. I just took the footage right into V-dub...

so what else can I do? It comes up with the same error :(..

if you want to discuss this on messenger and not keep this topic going then feel free to IM me..
