Widescreen...ok so im kinda new at this...

Postby SS5_Majin_Bebi » Wed Nov 20, 2002 11:22 pm

I want to be able to export my projects in widescreen format, a la Dark Kamuis "Vegeta In The End" video or Abaddon's "In The End of NGE" and "Reminiscence" videos, to name a few. How do i do this (please note, im not a tech-head, so try and make it simple....)

Yes, i concede im very inexperienced at this. I can make basic mvids, but i wanna do something MORE!!

Okay, technically to make widescreen videos, you need to have widescreen source.

End of Evangelion is a non-standard, widescreen movie. If you took most any regular anime series and tried to make it wide screen either you'll have to distort the picture or add horitizontal black bars to the bottom.

You can add horizontal bars by making a B&W with a black bar on the top and a black bar on the bottom, then place it on the top most track for the entire project length. In transperancy, either choose Chroma and pick the white middle or if you exported it from something like Premiere it probably has a alpha channel, so you could choose that.

Other options include. VirtualDub has a clip and crop feature. TMPEG has a letterbox feature as well.

I would only add letterboxing if it's required.

thanks, that helps immensely. Ive been tryin to do it all bloody night, and all we (me and friends) could get was a distorted picture. had us scratchin our heads for a bit.... it sucks to be new to the intricacies of this!! dammit, it should be required learning at school or...or something..

All i do is leave it if it is already widescreen (use widescreen settings in premiere), or when you export there is an option to trim it. Just add black bars on top and bottom. That is the easiest way i think
