And you're editing the AVS files in Premiere - not the D2V files - right?
Yep. Here's a rundown of everything I have installed and all the steps I take.
OK, first off, installed stuff/files
Premiere 6 in c:\program files\adobe\premiere\
Avisynth installed to plugins directory
mpeg2dec.dll is in d:\mpeg2dec
dvd2avi is in c:\dvd2avi
smart ripper is in c:\sr241
HuffYUV is installed
OK first step, I ripped the DVD. I used SmartRipper instead of one of the rippers suggested in ErMaC's guide because I am familiar with SR and didn't wanna download anything new. It shouldn't matter. SR does a good job. Rips the vobs, ifos, etc... DeMacrovisions then, makes them region free, etc... Anyway, they got ripped to d:\vidleech\LHA_DVD
Next, I open the vobs in DV2AVI and they show up just fine of course. I select an "open bracket" at the beginning of episode 1, and then a "close bracket" at the end of episode 1.
I select "none" under audio.
I select "32 bit MMX" for iDCT algorhythm. (I think that's default anyway)...
I select "Forced FILM" under Field Operation since the source is 23.9FPS (Despite the fact that the anime was digital... damn cheap-ass taiwan bootleggers.. anyway).
Under color pace, I put RGB
Under YUV->RGB I put PC Scale
Anyway after that, I hit F4 and save the project as "lha01.d2v" in my LHA_DVD directory. It takes about 5 minutes to save, and there may be a problem here. Here's a screenshot of what's going on here...
You'll notice that its giving me a timestamp in "Audio", but video doesn't seem to be doing jack or sh*t. I wonder if that's normal for when I have told it to export no audio at all, and only export video.
Anyway, ignoring that and moving along, we move on to making the AVS file. Here's the contents of my AVS file:
LoadPlugin("d:\mpeg2dec\MPEG2DEC.DLL")
MPEG2Source("d:\vidleech\LHA_DVD\lha01.d2v")
That taken care of, I then start up premiere, right click in the clips window and click "Import file". I then select that AVS file, and it imports it. It's just a black clip though, and if I try to play it, it plays all choppy and stupid. Choppy and stupid and black. Anyway, I then make sure that it's set to square pixels, double check to make sure that my project is editing in the right resolution and in square pixels aspect ratio. It is. Everything should be cool. But its not.
It's just... black nothingness despite that the length of the clip is correct, and it is right to list it as "VIDEO CLIP" ugh
Somehow I am thinking that either I am screwing up somewhere, or I need to reinstall all my applications, or maybe ripping the vobs with Smart Ripper screwed me, OR maybe I just need to give up and go back to making video slips using dvd2avi instead of trying to do this avisynth crap...
I really wnat to though, if it makes your vids look that much better.
I want my new vid to knock the f*ckin' socks off EVERYONE.
