How to make titles like in the movie Superman?

Postby Eek-1 » Mon Nov 04, 2002 9:17 am

Does anyone know how to create a zooming-like effect just like the opening credits in the movie Superman?

I use Premiere & TitleDeko. I already tried motion + zoom + ghosting, it looked horrible.

Geez... can't recall the superman titles right now, but I guess it's just a titles that zooms until very close to the screen, right?

When you have to deal with things that zoom to a very high level of detail you want to work the other way around: create your titles in a way that at 100% zoom they are as big as you need for the LAST frame. Then, just zoom them in from, say, 10% to 100%

Hope that i understood your problem correctly :P

It also has a nice echo on the titles too, so you'd have to do more than that.

You'd have to export with an alpha layer then possibly use the time filter? I dunno - I'm sure its possible... you just need to experiment.

What a lamer... I completely forgot how superman's title were done

Creating another layer seems the only option... you might want to fiddle with motion blur (if Premiere supports it, don't recall right now) and posterize time. I am almost sure I saw a tutorial on how to make this effect in AE somewhere... hmmm....

The closest effect in Premiere to motion blur is "Ghosting". Which when combined with a keyframed Transform effect, DOES NOT create the intended effect because Premiere is the dumbest program in existance.
