premier plays weird

Postby OutlawKhaos » Thu Oct 24, 2002 1:08 pm

ok, i got this HUGE problem with adobe premier 6.
the timeline plays totally out of sync in the monitor window (audio is bout 5 seconds ahead of the video) so after i get abou 10 seconds of work done i have to export it juz to see wut i need to go back and fix, then i go back and fix it then eport it again, then go back and make final touches on that bout 10 seconds, that problem has gotten to be a really big pain in the ass..
yes, i did uninstall it and reinstall it, that didnt help 1 bit :\

im open to any suggestions on how to fix that, i really wanna be able to make AMVs and continue on some of mine that i got started on already.

ill respond to any replies when i get home a bit later, im doing this from my stupid english class 6th period, or ill respond in 7th period..
Oppurtunity doesnt knock, it thumps, moans, and groans behind apartment doors..

I assume when you refer to the video in the monitor window, you're referring to the previewed footage, not just hitting 'play'. Unfortunately, I would kind of figure that this would be a limitation of your hardware and not the program- mine tends to lag a bit when using DVD MPEG2 source, and I'm running a 1Ghz Athlon with 512MB or RAM, but not quite as badly as it sounds like yours does.

Sounds like maybe you have the time base set wrong under your project settings? It should be set the same as your output framerate, at least thats what they tell me...

Most probably is an hardware problem... Premiere can't render the video in realtime. Possible causes:

1) Hard disk fragmentation
2) CPU/HD intensive codec (huffyuv)
3) Using avsynth method (impossible to preview in realtime, sorry :P)
4) Hardware simply too slow to keep up with the file

I am sorry but if you stumbled in one of the above your only chance is to render :?
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

funny thing that time base is...

My timebase is set to 29.97 but I export at 23.98....and I never experiance synch problems with my exports..and I edit with 23.976 footage..

Well I would set your timebase to 24fps if you're using 23.976 or .98 footage.

Second I would check what codec you're using to preview. DivX will cause strange problem in Preimere, huffYUV doesn't playback realtime all the time and AVISynth rarely ever will playback realtime.

You can of course do a preview in Premiere, which exports any clip that has an effect on it to your preview codec, the rest are left alone and played back with whatever codec they use. This can cause slowdown if it switchs back and forth between AVISynth & your preview codec.

Another thing, ONLY USE WAVE AUDIO. MP3 audio is importable, but is sluggish. Use winamp to convert it to a WAVE file.
