Deleting backgrounds using After Effects

Well, if you have After Effects this could work. All that you would do is turn a copy of the filmstrip into a traveling matte for the original. Of course, that's one additional program, more harddrive space and I'm not too sure on the flexibility of the image adjustments in AE. But yes, your method should work with bitmaps, although I'm not too sure if you can copy a matte, but I don't see any good reason why you shouldn't be able to.

Well actually Premiere does support tracking mattes ;p
