Resizing

How can I make a, for example, 1000x240 pic passing by the screen (with motion settings) in a 320x240 project without Premiere resizing the pic?

sorry... you can't.

Premiere is really crap at dealing with pictures that are larger than the project. You'd have to do it in After Effects.

However, if you dont have after effects, there is a way you can do it manually - if you really really want to get the effect.

Basically what you need to do is load you picture into an image program like photoshop and select a 320x240 area. You'll use this selection to copy chunks of your picture - much like a cookie cutter - and save these chunks as bmps. If you number these in order you can then import them as a bitmap sequence.

Now, you are making each frame manually - so make sure you do small steps because then you can speed it up to your desire and it will look fine.

It's also possible that you'd also be able to do it using an avisynth script or possibly a virtauldub filter but I'd have to think more about that because it's not a common thing to want to do. (I know there's a pan filter for vdub so you might want to check that out).

Oh, I've just noticed your vertical height is already the desired height.

In that case you could probably just do it numerically using a crop feature. (so, cropping 0 left and 680 right, then 20 left and 660 right etc...)

If I can think of an easier way, I'll let you know ^_^

I can't crop more than 20 pixels. If my pic is at 1000x240 it means I have to crop 1000 - 320 / 2 = 340 pixels each side...

Maybe I can do three 320x240 pics and move them one after another but it becomes quite boring... and no I don't really really want the effect ^_^.

Your last idea is really easy actually. You have all 3 pics have exact motion settings but the x positions are offset by however much you need to stick them together. You can do this by using paste attributes and then just manually change the x number on the start and end.

K one last question then : motion tool's real crap. I can't move clip only one or two pixels, it's something like 5 min. This is because x and y axes are graduated in percents... Can't I use pixels instead?

No it's not percents. Nevermind, it's not pixels either and that's what I blame.

It's actually quite simple - you just need to crop it into four separate 320x240 images, then use the Premiere motion settings to move the four images in synchronization, as if they were all a single image.

It'd probably be easier, though, if you were to use a 960x240 image and crop it into three pieces - you wouldn't have to figure out how to overlap two of the images properly... however, you could get around needing to overlap if you make the first or last image only the 40x240 piece, then expand its canvas to 320x240, fill in the left/right space with blue (depending on if this is the first or last image), then bade the dlue transparent in Premiere.

I hope this all makes sense. (It does to me.) :)

Yep that's what I said : ). I was just wondering if there was another way but except buying AE I'll stay with that.
