Premiere Fun...

Postby Atarashii Hito » Mon Sep 16, 2002 9:42 pm

I was just wondering how to apply a "universal" rubberband to a bunch of seperate cuts in Premiere. I'm trying to do a gradual fading strobe effect, so that the strobe will start off bright then gradually get softer. Thanks,

Copy the clip, then select another clip and go Paste Special... from the Edit menu. Select the option to Paste Properties or something and select rubberbands only.

Hmm... This isn't exactly what I'm looking for I think... The effect I'm trying to acomplish is similar to the effect in your video "The End Of Me" at the begining where the flashing lights gradually grow brighter and then softer. Is this what this suggestion accomplishes?
Thanks,

Premiere sucks for automation :(

You can't define every clip to NOT de-interlace on slow down, keep aspect ratio(tho you should be working with a file that doesn't match the ratio of your project) or set pixel aspect ratio...no you have to set setting each time  . Well if you do it from the bin window first then it applies it to cuts you make later on. Anyways.

You wanted a stoby effect with a fade in fade out ?

Seems to me you'd render your clip with strobes, export that clip, then import it again and setup the rubberbands for a fade-in / fade-out effect. Or you can juse use the strobe effect with the rubber bands.

As for applying this to each clip you're probably going to have a HARD time doing so as clips that don't match the size of the original probably aren't going to turn out properly and you'll have to manuall adjust them :(

Well the problem with Klinky's suggestion is that the beats aren't steady....
So I can't really export the stobe clip then adjust the fade like that, which I what I intially planned to do... So I guess what I'm hearing is that I'll have to just adjust it manually.... I'll try to upload an image to help explain what I'm trying to do in a little bit

Have you tried using a virtual clip?

1. Line up your clips

Image

2. Select that weird tool I selected

3. Select your clips

Image

4. Click on the selected clips and drag to the right until you see a silhouette of a large clip. let go and you should see this:

5. Now you have a virtual clip to work with
