Another Premiere 6.5 MPEG2 Question

Postby Sinime » Tue Sep 10, 2002 11:11 pm

Everyone seems to be talking about Premiere 6.5 being able to edit MPEG2 files natively. Every time I try to open one though, Premiere acts like it is going to work but eventually stops responding after moving around in the timeline a few times. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? I first rip the DVD to HD, then demux to an .M2V (video only), then open the file, right? I even tried ripping only the opening scene of a DVD. Total size of file was around 50MB. My computer should have had no problems (it has 512MB of RAM).

I tried opening an MPEG-2 of one of my music videos in it, and it was simply to slow and choppy to do me any good. I am on a p4 2.26ghz here... I have no idea why on earth it could be so slow. I think the mpeg-2 support just sucks probably, and isn't worth bothering with. Use the plugin pack that Absolute Destiny released to import your mpeg-2s through avisynth.
