Adobe Premiere: I'm a chipmunk!

Postby Rinny » Sat Sep 07, 2002 2:59 pm

I have premiere 6.0, and it will randomly (though it will often do it at the same point in the vid) zip through a section at 3 or 4 times the normal speed. I can't seem to remedy this and having to force premiere to a stop and try again over and over is getting REALLY annoying. >__< Anybody have any clue what the problem is?

If it's doing this in a clip window, it may be because you're hitting play multiple times (on certain files hitting play again will accellerate playback speed).

Just a complete shot in the dark - you don't happen to have a Sound Blaster Live running on a Dual Processor system, do you? I had a similar problem like this but somehow I doubt that's it.

Other than that I have no idea other than to say it is most likely not Premiere but something weird with your computer. Update your OS to newest compatability patches and update your video and sound drivers as well as any motherboard chipset drivers.

You also might want to try downloading the beta version of Premiere 6.02. Check the specs. I belive that I saw something about a fix for this....not sure, though.

www.adobe.com is where you'll find this download.

hi all
I thinks its some soort of play back bug
esp* if i have something else running..is like it lags behind then rushes to catch up.
Premire usually behaves if i have nothing else running at the moment

Now if i can just find out why always crashes sooner or lateer with divX files...uuggghh

I've noticed that when using DivX as a preview codec Premiere will get really chunky when doing previews, it looks like the scrub line goes across @ normal speed, but the video is playing at like 1fps. The only solution is to use a different codec, like MJPEG or HuffYUV or quite possibly a different DivX variant.
