AviSynth Problem

Postby Cosmos Studio » Sat Sep 07, 2002 12:16 pm

Okay, okay. Now wasting 3 hours looking through different documents, help files, and downloading stuff. I still have problems. Simply put, when I try opening a d2v file in VirtualDub to convert it to an AVI file, I'm getting a "Unrecognized exception!" line 2 error (in other words the d2v file). I've tried making the file again to make sure it wasn't corrupted. That didn't work. There are no spaces in any of the paths and I'm out of things to try.. I downloaded the AMVapp pack, and both tests work, so the plug-ins should be fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
~Cosmos

P.S. The avs files also won't work in Premiere if I try direct editing

Did you use the version of dvd2avi that comes with the pack?

Did you use the version of mpeg2dec.dll that comes with the pack?

If either of these answers are no, then you need to a) remake your dvd2avi project and b) use the correct version of mpeg2dec

hehe, you hit the nail on the head. I was using the wrong version of DVD2AVI ^^; ...Thanks so much for your help! Now, the quality of the footage isn't what it should be, but I should be able to look that problem up myself (when I get some time). Thanks so much ^_^

Man, that worked for you? I installed AMVapp and everythign. Then i redid the project in the supplied dvd2avi and used the AMVapp's mpeg2dec.dll Still I get the unrecognized exception error. This is weird.

It works fine in the VirtualDub, so I'm just going to encode it to AVI and work with it in Premeire like that. As for editing directly in Premiere. That still doesn't work -_-

Why not?

If you tell us the bug we can fix it but tom my knowledge this should work fine in premiere 5 and 6 on all operating systems.

Hey Absolute, did you see my reply over there in there other thread? I unistlaled teh amvapp and reinstalled it. THen I redid the project with the dvd2avi that came with amvapp. I then created the avs file with the paths pointing to the correct files and it still gives me the "Unrecognized Execption" error. What gives?

Well, I have no idea what's up in Premiere. I don't know why it won't work. It won't detect the avs file at all, or when it was detecting it, it treated it like a sound file.. I have another problem as well, this one is interlacing. It seems the DVD footage is doing it very very badly. And after reading Ermac's guide about 500 times, I still don't get it. Seems everything is explained, and I know what going on. But I don't see a solution >_< (please don't tell me to go back and read it again ^^; )
Thanks for the help,

@ RipperX - how the hell should I know?

@Cosmos Studio - It's supposed to have interlacing you fool. You're talking about interlacing as if it's a bad thing. You can get rid of it when you've finished your video.

As for premiere wont detect it or it only detects it as sound, I don't believe you. Tell me what version of premiere you have and what is in your avs file.

if he's just getting sound it might be an AVISynth error message in one of those 10 second clip thingies.

For Premiere. Using 6.0 and in the avs file is the same dv2 project file that's correctly working on VirtualDub. Plugins are all in and everything like that. As for the interlacing thing, I meant that around any/all movement there are horizontal lines. I've played around with it, and after exporting from Premiere, they're still there..
Thanks,

Let me say it again for the cheap seats.

1) POST YOUR SCRIPT - couldnt care less if it works in vdub, I want to see it so I know why it doesnt work in premiere

2) It's supposed to be interlaced! Read the guides!!

LoL, sorry I can be slow sometimes ^^;

Here's the script:
loadplugin("C:\AVSFilters\mpeg2dec.dll")
MPEG2Source("C:\unzipped\Ayashi\test.d2v")

And as for the interlaced, alright *goes to read the guide again* ^^

Cosmos,

Just curious, do you have Microsoft Visual Studio installed or any programming software installed?
