I am simply an idiot. Why did I not think of that? I guess I just figured that ANY type of compression would result in a loss of quality. However, I now see (by CHECKING THE GUIDE) that HuffYUV is a lossless codec.
I'm still not 100 % on the procedure here. Can you tell me if I'm in the right direction? Here it is: I go into ye olde VirtualDub, select the portion of the vid I want to output, go to Video>Compression>HuffYUV 2.11 and then go to Save As AVI? Then in AE all I have to do is do my effects and then output as AVI using HuffYUV again? SWEET! Thanks a lot.
Oh, by way, I wasn't going to use AE as my main editing platform....I was simply confused....oh, well, I do thank you very much for all your help!
